Country
To me, country music is about life in all its dimensions – from the absurd to the sublime. It’s a very self-effacing genre, ready – even eager – to poke fun at itself, while holding a fun-house mirror up to society in general. The surprising thing is that the careful listener will begin to recognize himself in those distorted images that tumble into the endless horizon of reflections. I’m convinced that those who profess to “hate country music” have never listened to it carefully; hating country music is the equivalent of hating oneself – because we’re all there – somewhere.
