Adult Contemporary

Into what category could I put songs that fall into no other? Apparently a lot of musicians had asked that question, until some intuitive lexicographical pioneer came up with the term Adult Contemporary, a catch-all for material not likely to appeal to those with strictly libidinous tendencies; songs about more diverse or abstract topics like inter-dimensional romance, the care and feeding of somnambulistic mammals, or terpsichorean exploration of a soup can. Into this broad, deep, and appealing category I am presently distilling the residue of my musical ephemera with my band A Roomful of Curiously-Hatted Gentlemen which, oddly enough, includes two individuals who are – from every conceivable angle – distinctly women.
